"Express yourself through movement and dance while being your own kind of beautiful".

Nikkina had always dreamed of owning her own dance studio. After years of teaching as a dance studio teacher, she made her lifelong dream her reality. Her daughter, Kylie, is the inspiration behind the name Expressive Movement Dance.

Meet the EMD Studio Staff

Our dance instructors are trained in various dance styles and have years of experience teaching all ages! We love equipping our students with the skills they need to be successful!

Nikkina Robinson

Owner & Artistic Director

Nikkina has 30 years of dance experience. She is trained in classical ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, musical theater, modern, and African dance styles. She was a competitive dancer for more than 10 years competing on teams in the DFW area. She also has experience judging local area school dance team auditions. While in high school, she was a member of Performing Heights Dance Program, the Competitive Dance Team at Arlington Heights High School and a dancer in the Performing Heights musical production of 42nd Street. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree and has a Texas Dance Teacher Certification. She is currently the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at Rivertree Academy. While pursuing her education at Texas Wesleyan, she was the captain of the Cheerleading Squad and the Wesleyan Dance Team. She has had the opportunity to train with some of the most distinguished individuals in the entertainment industry including Debbie Allen, Dave Scott, Shane Sparks, Titus Fotso, Chloe & Maud Arnold, Ava Bernstein, Eartha Robinson, Laurieann ‘Harlee’ Gibson, Jimmy R.O. Smith, Brandon Mason, Tucker Barkley, Brandon Alexander, Matt Steffanina, Rosero McCoy, Jaimie Goodwin, Valerie Rockey, Molly Long, Brea Perdue, Tricia Miranda, Rumer Noel, Guy Groove, Judson Emery, and Gil Duldulao. Some of her most memorable performance opportunities include: performing as the opening act for the Legendary Charlie Pride at Bass Hall (one of the first children to perform on that stage), North Central Civic Ballet productions of The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty, Sugarbowl Halftime Production with Jessica Simpson, Dallas Cowboys Halftime Shows with LeAnne Rhymes and Toby Keith, Debbie Allen’s Texas Production of Pepito’s Story, and Kids Who Care Production of A Midsummer’s Night Dream. She was one of the original members of the Slightly Off Tap Company, a local Fort Worth tap dance company. She currently teaches Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Improv classes. She has choreographed numerous competition dances. Her competitive dance routines have received numerous awards including Elite Platinum, Platinum, High Gold, Best Costume and several overall awards. The greatest reward is teaching students, watching them learn and progress as beginner dancers, and then flourishing into confident and joyful dancers. She is excited about EMD's debut dance season, especially since her daughter, Kylie, will be an EMD dancer!

Sayla Wofford

Student Assistant

Sayla Wofford has been dancing for 9 years, 7 with Ms. Nikkina. She is trained in jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, tap, and ballet. Sayla has been competing in dance for 4 years and has won numerous awards. Some of her awards include: 9 first place platinum awards with her groups and solos, a sixth place overall with her jazz group, and her solos have won 2 fifth place overall awards and 1 third place overall award. Sayla has danced at Cowboys Stadium, on a cruise ship, the Hall of Fame Competition at Will Roger's Coliseum, and Dance Showcase USA. Sayla's favorite hobby is dance, but she also enjoys running, hunting, fishing, playing golf with her dad, and spending time with friends and family. She is very excited to be a student assistant at EMD because she has always enjoyed improving as a dancer and now looks forward to helping others improve in different dance styles. Sayla is proud to be a part of the first year of EMD!

Sophia Tucker

Student Assistant

Sophia has danced for 4 years, being trained in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop,  and lyrical. She has competed a few years, with her solo winning a Platinum 1st place in her category and 9th overall in her division. Her group dances have won awards such as platinum, 6th overall, and first and second in their categories. Sophia's favorite dance styles that she enjoys most are contemporary and jazz. Her first solo was a jazz dance, choreographed by her great dance instructor, Ms. Nikkina Robinson. She has had the opportunity to be able to perform on a cruise ship, Dance Showcase USA dance competitions, and other great performances. One of her favorite hobbies is writing, in which she enjoys doing her free time. She enjoys both dance and writing, most likely because they are both expressive in words and movement. She also enjoys playing with her two dogs and brother, spending time with her family, improv dancing on her own, and editing videos or pictures. Sophia is most excited to be a Student Assistant at EMD because she loves helping other dancers grow in every dance style and have fun while learning dance. As dancers progress and become better as they become older, it's a great feeling to know when they were just 5 or 6, that you helped them just a little become what kind of dancer they are now.
